The Merge, previously called Eth2, will be carried out effectively in August. The last landmark on Ethereums roadmap is the upgrade to sharded chain, which is set up to go reside in 2023. The network will use layer-2 networks such as Polygon and Optimism till then to handle high transaction volumes and scale.

Van Loon explained to the 5000 individuals that the team wanted to finish the transition before the “problem Bomb” would cause the network to stop working as planned.
The long-awaited Ethereum migration to a Proof-of-Stake (PoS agreement mechanism) looks like it will occur at some point in August. This has been repeatedly postponed. Ideally.
@preston_vanloon, Ethereum core Dev, simply announced that the eth combine was prepared. They are currently just screening and expect the combine to occur in August. Its amazing! Excellent question @TrustlessState. On panel @drakefjustin pic.twitter.com/vX4beNatJ5

Preston Van Loon (core designer of Ethereum (ETH), informed Permissionless participants that the Merge shift would occur at some point in August if all goes according to plan.
The Ropsten testnet Merge will integrate the PoW test network with a PoS consensus layer testingnet. It will imitate what happens when the Merge in between Ethereum & the Beacon Chain takes location, and it becomes a real PoS network.
” If client designers do not think they can deploy The Merge on mainnet before block times get slowed excessive,” it will be delayed again.
Justin Drake, a fellow Ethereum researcher, echoed this sentiment and mentioned that it was essential to make sure the Merge proceeds quickly. He shared his “strong desire” to see this occur before Augusts trouble bomb.
The “difficulty Bomb” is a program that deliberately slows down Ethereums network. It was created to motivate PoS transition by making it harder for miners to remain on the evidence of work (PoW), chain after the Merge.
” If everything goes according to plan, August is simply rational. Lets move the trouble bomb as quickly as possible if we dont need to.
Tim Beiko, an Ethereum designer, announced on April 11 that The Merge was being postponed once again. Beiko mentioned that The Merge would not go live in June in spite of an effective shadow fork test. Beiko specified that designers need to act quickly to avoid the problem Bomb, or else they will need to launch yet another update in order to postpone it.
@preston_vanloon, Ethereum core Dev, just revealed that the eth combine was all set. They are presently just testing and expect the combine to occur in August. Tim Beiko, an Ethereum developer, announced on April 11 that The Merge was being delayed once more. It will replicate what happens when the Merge between Ethereum & the Beacon Chain takes location, and it becomes an actual PoS network.
The Merge, previously known as Eth2, will be implemented effectively in August.
